Qi Zhang

Qi Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Dr. Shahria Alam at the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus. Qi serves as a voting member of the American Concrete Institute Committee (341 – Earthquake-Resistant Concrete Bridges), and is a reviewer for the Journal of Bridge Engineering | American Society of Civil Engineers. Qi has received research scholarships from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Canadian Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute. He also works as a design engineer at WSP Group. He is one of the two recipients of the WSP Canada Transportation Award – Emerging Professional in 2018. He has been developing his expertise in a variety of areas including new bridge designs, inspections, and retrofits. Qi has worked on a number of large-scale, unique and complex bridge structures. His research topic is the application of hybrid rocking precast column in seismic regions.
