Dr. Jie Shen is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He received his M.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from Southeast University, China, and his Ph.D. degree from Kyoto University, Japan. He has published 16 papers in hSCI journals (9 first or corresponding author). He has presented 9 papers and delivered academic presentations at international conferences and forums, receiving two Outstanding Presentation Awards. He also serves as a frequent reviewer for leading international journals, including Eng. Struct., J. Build. Eng., and J. Bridge Eng. He has participated in six research projects funded by agencies in China, Japan, and Canada, including a Mitacs research project in Canada. In addition, he has been awarded a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Assistant Professor Fellowship by the University of Hong Kong Research Committee.

Research Interests

  • Current research interests are including:
  • (1) Seismic resilience assessment of isolated highway bridges under low-temperature conditions;
  • (2) Development of thermo-mechanical coupled constitutive models for rubber isolation bearings;
  • (3) Seismic performance of CFRP grid- and ECC-reinforced concrete shear walls;
  • (4) Data-driven and physics-informed prediction of structural responses.
