Dima Kanaan
Dr. Dima Kanaan is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Engineering at UBC Okanagan. Her research focuses on developing sustainable, durable, low-carbon cementitious materials through the use of industrial by-products, mine tailings, and recycled concrete materials. Her work integrates durability testing, microstructural characterization, and environmental performance assessment to advance resilient infrastructure. She has published and presented at leading international conferences and is committed to practical solutions for sustainable construction.
Research interests
Sustainable and durable cementitious materials for low-carbon infrastructure: supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), mine-tailings valorization, recycled concrete aggregates, concrete durability and service life, microstructural characterization, heavy-metal immobilization and leaching, and circular-economy solutions for construction.
