Dr. Dima Kanaan is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Her research focuses on developing sustainable and durable low-carbon cementitious materials through the utilization of industrial by-products, mine tailings, and recycled concrete materials. Her work integrates durability testing, microstructural characterization, and environmental performance assessment to advance resilient infrastructure. She has published and presented her research at leading international conferences and is committed to developing practical solutions for sustainable construction.
Research Interests
My research focuses on developing sustainable and durable cementitious materials for low-carbon infrastructure. My work includes supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), mine tailings valorization, recycled concrete aggregates, durability and service life of concrete, microstructural characterization, heavy-metal immobilization and leaching, and circular economy solutions for the construction industry.
