Extensive research expertise in structural engineering, advanced materials, and the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures and bridges, with specialization in nonlinear analysis, finite element modeling, programming, and machine learning. Over two decades of combined experimental and analytical experience have resulted in more than 20 published and submitted journal and conference papers. Research activities include developing experimental and numerical studies on hybrid GFRP–steel bridge piers, stainless steel fatigue, timber–concrete composite systems, and innovative structural systems, along with preparing research grant proposals. Additional responsibilities include mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and teaching civil engineering courses at the University of British Columbia and the American University in Cairo.
